  • This will be a three-day affair, kicking off on March 26

The Sunday Million is one of the most popular tournament offerings from PokerStars. Launched in 2006, it has grown to become the world’s biggest weekly poker tournament, awarding $1,000,000 in guaranteed prizes each week.

To celebrate its success, PokerStars runs a Sunday Million anniversary edition each year, with mouth-watering guarantees up for grabs. This year is no different, with the online real money poker giant finally releasing the dates for the 17th anniversary edition.

Sunday Million 17th Anniversary Edition

The Sunday Million 17th Anniversary edition will take place on March 26, 2023. The tournament costs $215 to enter and features a massive $7.5 million in guaranteed prizes. That’s lower than the $10 million guaranteed in 2022, however, looking at the results of the past editions, the 2023 special tournament is likely to exceed expectations and go well above its initial guarantee.

Day 1 action will see players sit with a starting stack of 20,000 chips, played to 20-minute levels. The blinds begin at 50/100/12a, and players can re-enter up to five times before the start of Day 2.

Day 1 concludes upon the completion of Level 18 and the remaining players will resume the action on Day 2 which is scheduled for March 27. It will be a long grind, with players battling it out across 32 levels played to a 15-minute clock. Day 2 survivors will progress to Day 3, the final day of the tournament, which takes place on March 28. It’s the day PokerStars will crown its newest Sunday Million anniversary edition champion.

Qualify via Satellites

PokerStars is running satellites for the Sunday Million 17th Anniversary edition, available for buy-ins of $2.20 and $22. But players may also win their way into the tournament without spending anything by taking part in freebuy satellites running multiple times daily. These satellites come with a $0.27 rebuy option, with at least one $215 seat guaranteed to be won.

As with the previous editions, PokerStars is also expected to run special edition Spin & Go tournaments ahead of the March 26 tournament.

Several past winners of the Sunday Million anniversary editions walked away with seven-figure payouts, including former Americas Cardroom ambassador Vanessa Kade who took down the 15th anniversary Sunday Million for over $1.5 million.
