The biggest tournament of 888poker’s Sale Week promotion has a new champion. Brazil’s “Chipss182” emerged victorious in the $100,000 guaranteed Mystery Bounty Main Event, which normally carries a $109 buy-in but was offered at just $55 during the promotion.
Huge Player Field
Nearly 1,900 players jumped in for the half-price event, creating a massive field. After two days of play, the final eight sat down Monday night under the watchful eyes of 888poker’s Twitch stream team.
Leading the final table early was the UK’s “PeakyCollins”, who balanced this tournament with the $109 Big Shot 215, which they also won for $2,276.
The action began quickly. Jersey’s “KennyG2134” became the first casualty, shoving all-in with ace-jack only to run into ace-king from Sweden’s “r4ndomr4gs”, who turned a full house on the river. Soon after, Germany’s “POTCHECKER99” went out in seventh place, their two-pair falling to a straight from “r4ndomr4gs”.
“InfectionTom” of Germany followed in sixth after running ace-ten into ace-king. The fifth spot went to the UK’s “nlfreddie”, whose ten-nine lost to “PeakyCollins”’ ace-nine. Denmark’s “Ralleh10”, who began four-handed play with over 50 big blinds, couldn’t recover from an early flush loss and fell in fourth.
Negotiating Skills at Work
The three-handed play lasted for nearly an hour, with Swede “r4ndomr4gs” managing to hang on despite being the shortest stack. However, he eventually bowed out, leaving “Chipss182” and “PeakyCollins” to battle heads-up.
With just a couple of big blinds separating them, the two players negotiated a deal, leaving a small portion and the final mystery bounty up for grabs.
The final hand saw “PeakyCollins” limp with queen-ten while “Chipss182” raised with ace-king. After a series of bets and check-calls, the river ace sealed the win for Brazil’s real money poker player.
Finally, “Chipss182” collected $6,333, including bounties, while “PeakyCollins” took home $7,413.
