Alan Keating is putting on a show during the 24-hour Hustler Casino Live marathon. A few hours into Tuesday’s Million Dollar Marathon, he pulled off one of the biggest pots ever seen on a livestreamed cash game.
The $500/$1,000 no-limit hold’em session kicked off at 2 p.m. PT and is set to run until the same time on Wednesday, and Keating has been right in the middle of the action.
The Wildest Hand
Keating doesn’t appear on HCL all that often, which is part of why fans react the way they do when he sits down.
On Tuesday, he bought in for $1 million after arriving about 90 minutes into the show. The game was already stacked with characters and big bankrolls.
Sam Kiki (“Senor Tilt”), Nik Airball, Steve, Phong “Turbo” Nguyen, Brandon Steven, Martin Kabrhel, and Peter Wang were already in their seats. DoorDash co-founder Stanley Tang joined moments before the poker hand that sent the YouTube chat into a frenzy.
The pot that unfolded ended up being one of the wildest hands the show has ever aired. It started quietly enough when Steven opened from under the gun to $4,000 with 10♥ 8♥. Keating looked down at 10♦ 10♣ in the hijack and made the call. Kiki called on the button with 9♥ 8♠, and the two blinds came along as well: Steve with J♦ 9♦ and Kabrhel with J♣ 6♣.
The flop came 10♠ J♥ J♠, which connected hard with three different players. Steve fired a small $1,000 lead with his trips, sticking to his habit of tossing out a feeler bet whether he’s strong or not. Kabrhel called with his weaker trips. Steven decided the price was too good to fold. Keating, sitting on a flopped full house, raised to $25,000.
Things Escalated Quickly
Steve called again, and then Kabrhel bumped it up to $69,000. Keating called, happy to build a massive pot with a monster. Things escalated quickly when Steve moved all in for $784,500. Kabrhel tanked before calling off his remaining $421,000. Keating took a moment, then called as well.
They agreed to run it twice. The first board finished A♦ then 3♥, locking up at least half the $2,082,000 pot for Keating. The second runout didn’t help either opponent, and Alan Keating scooped the whole thing.
Steve walked away down $1 million, Kabrhel dropped $500,000 within an hour and reloaded, while Keating climbed past $2 million in profit. Nik Airball was also up over seven figures, while Steven was stuck more than $1.1 million.
