Dusk Till Dawn (DTD) founder Rob Yong described the recent partypoker Live MILLIONS UK which took place at the Nottingham venue as a massive disappointment.

The casino owner was referring to the Main Event’s unfavourable turnout, attracting just 1015 players compared with last year’s 1204. Yong was very candid in his partypoker blog post on what went wrong and how things can be improved.

This year’s Live Millions changed its system from satellite qualifiers to getting players to use their partypoker Live Dollars. Yong believes this was one of the main reasons behind the low turnout.

Yong said partypoker players would probably choose to use their partypoker Live Dollars to buy-in to the online $20M Guaranteed MILLIONS event or the $30M Caribbean Party Poker which is scheduled to take place in the Bahamas next year instead of wanting to use it to play at the DTD Casinoin cold Nottingham .

The re-entry issue is also a point of concern for Yong. Gone are the days when a player only got a single crack at a Main Event as now players who get knocked out can keep coming back if they have the money,

New Vision To Make Things Better In 2019

Yong said he would like to bring back the glory days of the original European Poker Tour where main events followed a freezeout format. He said partypoker MILLIONS must come up with something fresh and different for it to make a mark in the tournament map, rather than continue to compete with existing tours.

Though partypoker is in active partnership with other tours such as the World Poker Tour (WPT) and the WSOP Circuit offering $1K – $5K main events, Yong declined to compete with these stops and wants to focus on bringing back the original EPT format.

Yong met with partypoker Live President and EPT founder John Duthie to draft a new format to make things better for the 2019 edition. Among the features they have come up with a $10K buy-in with $5M – $10M in guarantees depending on the venue. Main events will be freezeouts and late registration will be reduced.

Upcoming Events

Yong also made some announcements on what to expect at DTD in the coming days. There will be direct Mega satellites for the WSOPE Main Event in Rozvadov, which kicks off on Oct.14 and will run for two weeks. He will also add $500,000 to the WSOPE online satellites as a way of saying thank you to players for their all-out support to partypoker over the past 12 months.
