PokerstarsPokerStars, the biggest online poker website in the world recently announced that it will be sponsoring the third annual Chad Brown Memorial Charity Poker Tournament in New Jersey as a part of its first-ever live event program since its re-entry to United States this year. The charity poker tournament will be a part of the PokerStars New Jersey Festival.

The memorial event will be held on Nov. 3 at the Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Jennifer Winter, PokerStars event coordinator and a close friend of Brown’s, expressed happiness at the chance to be involved in the tournament.

In a statement, Winter said

It’s the first opportunity for Chad’s East Coast friends who don’t play in the WSOP to pay their respects. I’m a coordinator by trade, so planning these events seems like the natural thing to do to help honor Chad’s memory. Working with PokerStars and being a part of their inaugural festival is something that would bring a smile to his face

The tournament will be raising funds for T.J. Martell Foundation for Leukemia, Cancer and AIDS Research of which Brown was a huge supporter. Brown died in 2014 at the age of 52 from a rare form of cancer. He was awarded an honorary WSOP Championship bracelet post his demise.

The no limit hold’em tournament will have a $200 buy-in with 50 percent of the total buy-ins being donated to the Foundation. The remaining amount will form the prize pool for the tournament. The event will be hosted by poker legend Daniel Negreanu who is also part of the Team PokerStars.

Negreanu issued a press release stating that he was delighted to participate in an event held in honour of his close friend Chad Brown. He added that it was great to see so many people and companies coming together to raise money for a good cause. A vast array of prizes can be won during the charity tournament ranging from a $5,000 seat to the PokerStars Championship Bahamas Main Event, a $3,200 package to Players Poker Championship Aruba Main Event, a WPT500 entry to any events of 2017 WPT500 and a $500 VIP WPT Experience pass for televised events.

A number of interesting items such as subscriptions, training sessions and merchandise from companies like Gorilla Gaming, Heartland and Run Good Gear are also on offer as prizes or splash pot prizes. The host venue Resorts Casino Hotel has announced that it will be separately donating $3,500 in Brown’s name to the T.J. Martell Foundation.

Last year alone the Chad Brown charity tournament raised $80,000 for the T.J foundation and over the years it has raised over $150,000 for cancer research.
