PokerStars Rolls Out Major Upgrades To Home Games

PokerStars’ Home Games product is now available on the PokerStars mobile app. This means players can now play private games with their friends and family anywhere and anytime they wish, giving them more freedom and flexibility to enjoy their favorite cash games and tournaments.

As part of a major update to the product, players can also now choose from an expanded list of game formats which can be played on mobile.

The Home Game product was originally launched for the desktop client only, where players need to be literally at home inorder to play.

It has become increasingly popular at PokerStars as it enables players to form private clubs and organize private cash games and tournaments against family and friends.

This week, PokerStars announced its rolling out a series of changes to the product, based on customer feedback.

By adding mobile capability to Home Games, PokerStars has effectively answered the clamor from players to let them play the games on a mobile device. Home Games can now be played on Android, with iOS support also set to be introduced very soon.

The massive update also includes the removal of less popular formats in exchange for new tournament variants, such as 5-Card Omaha, 6-Card Omaha, Showtime Hold’em, 6+ Hold’em, Split Hold’em and Fusion. These new game options are also available in cash games, alongside Swap Hold’em. Additionally, players now have the option to create games in Progressive KO as well as Total Progressive KO.

Expanded Options

A total of four tournament level lengths are now available – three, five, 10, and 15-minutes. Organizers of cash games and tournaments also have expanded options in relation to rebuys, starting stack, and payout structure.

PokerStars also added late registration for the first six levels of the tournament, with time banks also being extended. As a result of the latest upgrades, Home Games can now be played in a quite similar manner to PokerStars’ regular tournaments, though it’s understood not all of the new variants will be available across all markets due to regulatory differences.

If you have yet to try PokerStars’ Home Games, the steps are pretty simple. You only need to download the PokerStars software and register (if you don’t have an account yet), locate the Home Games tab in the lobby, and then click “Create a Poker Club“. From there, you can now provide a name for your club and send invitation codes to your fellow players.
