Vanessa Kade Wins PokerStars Sunday Million 15th Anniversary Event

March 2021 is proving to be the biggest month of Vanessa Kade‘s poker career. After recently securing a sponsorship deal with Americas Cardroom (ACR), the Canadian poker pro has emerged as the winner of the Sunday Million 15th Anniversary event at PokerStars.

Kade who uses the screen name “Niffler” in her online pursuits, topped a massive field of almost 70,000 entries to take home $1.5 million in top prize, the largest ever awarded in the tournament’s history.

A total of 65 players made it to the final day, each guaranteed to take home at least $10,757. Only nine of them made it to the final table. The first casualties of the final table were Russians “Vvlankov” who finished in 9th place for $72,132 and “kefirchik106“in 8th for $105,538.

Kade entered the nine-handed final table seventh in chips, with “ikkedus” leading the pack. It was through “ikkedus” that Kade was able to begin building her stack – her jack-eight offsuit beating the former’s ace-nine offsuit. “Talibenes” eventually finished “ikkedus” off in 7th place for $154,416.

At that point, “Talibenes” held the lead with a massive chip advantage. Kade climbed to the second spot after busting “malinga” in 6th place for $225,930). “peu3up” was the next to go, finishing 5th for $330,564. Kade continued to navigate her way to the top, doubling through “Talibenes” to narrow the gap with four players remaining.

A four-handed deal should have resulted in each player walking away with at least $900,000, but “PanchoVetin” from Bulgaria was keen on resuming the action, and so all four battled it out for the top prize, with Kade eventually eliminating all of her three opponents – “Transylvanian” finished in 4th place for $483,652, “PanchoVetin” finished in 3rd place for $707,640 and “Talibenes” came in 2nd and took home $1,035,358.

Kade’s impressive performance earned her $1,514,920 in first-place prize.

The Sunday Million 15th Anniversary event which promoted Women in poker attracted the second-largest field, next only to the 2020 edition which drew over 93,000 entries.

Sweet Victory

Kade said in a tweet following her Sunday Million victory that all the pain she went through was worth it in the end. Earlier this month, the popular streamer revealed that GGPoker terminated her affiliate account with the site, owing to comments she made back in December 2020, when the online poker operator signed Dan Bilzerian.

Kade who is also a popular streamer, has now moved on from that sad chapter in her career, and she did so in epic fashion – Americas Cardroom subsequently welcomed her as a member of Team ACR Pros, and now she adds another feather in her cap after becoming a Sunday Million champion, all of these happening within just a month!
