GGPoker To Run $100M GTD WSOP Super Circuit Online Series In May

GGPoker will play host to yet another massive festival this May. The World Series of Poker (WSOP) Super Circuit Online Series will run on the online poker site from May 1 to 30, featuring $100 million in guarantees!

The series will award a total of 20 rings, two of which will go towards cash game players, a first in WSOP Circuit history. GGPoker will then continue its partnership with the WSOP for the Online Bracelet Series in August.

The WSOP Super Circuit Online Series gets underway on the 1st of May with the $100 buy-in, $1M GTD Super Circuit Kick Off. The festival will culminate in the $525 buy-in Main Event which comes with a guaranteed prize pool of $5 million, the biggest ever in the history of the WSOPC.

Apart from the top prize, the Main Event winner will also take home a $50,000 GGPoker sponsorship package and will join the site’s newly-created “Team Champions“.

Circuit Rings for Cash Game Players

The full schedule features 18 tournaments, each awarding a Circuit ring, but for the first time ever, the WSOP will give away two additional rings to cash game players. To get the chance to compete for the highly-coveted Circuit ring, cash game players should try their best to be among the top 9 finishers in either the No-Limit Hold’em or the Pot-Limit Omaha cash game leaderboard.

The top 9 players will participate in the “Final9” final table showdown to determine who takes home the ring! The winner will also walk away with $2,600 as top prize, with the rest of the finishers receiving at least $300.

This will surely excite the cash game players, but some prominent pros are not quite happy with the new promotion, including Chris Moneymaker. The 2003 WSOP Main Event champion said the move only ruins the WSOP brand. Danielle Andersen, a cash game player himself, also thinks it’s a “stupid” idea.

GGPoker Continues To Make Noise

Since expanding its operations across the globe, GGPoker has quickly become one of the top destinations for big-guaranteed online poker festivals. The brand, which initially catered to Asian players, is now beginning to challenge PokerStars’ dominance in the global online poker arena.

GGPoker is currently running its own GG Spring Festival which promises at least $150 million in guarantees, countering PokerStars’ $100M GTD Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP).
