Star Sydney Champs & PokerStars London Series Kick-Off Tomorrow

Two huge poker tournaments are set to kick off on July 11 in Australia and the UK.

The 2019 Star Sydney Championships will feature 17 events, while three events will run at the PokerStars London Series.

We take a look at what each tournament has to offer players.

The Star Sydney Championships

This major tournament one again takes place at the The Star Sydney in Pyrmont which is the second largest casino in Australia. Running from July 11 to August 5, the latest edition of the Star Sydney Championships boasts an action-packed 17-event schedule, which kicks off with the A$1,100 Monster Stack.

There are four major events on the schedule, including the A$5,000 Challenge which takes place on July 26-27, the $1,100 buy-in 6-Max event running on July 28-29, and the A$20,000 High Roller (the biggest buy-in on the schedule) happening on July 31- August 1.

The main highlight of the tournament is the A$3,000 buy-in Main Event which is set to take place from August 2-5. The event attracted a total of 522 entries last year, creating a massive prize pool of A$1.5 million. Some of Australia’s best poker players are expected to be in attendance this year, with organizers aiming to surpass the event’s previous record.

Players can also take part in Short Deck (July 14-15), Pineapple (July 15), Sydney Champs NLHE Cup (July 16-21), Ladies Event (July 21-22), Crazy Pineapple (August 3-4) and Bounty Event (August 5), all of which feature buy-ins ranging from A$330 to A$550

PokerStars London Series

The first PokerStars London Series of 2019 takes place at Le Meridien in London from July 11-14. The tournament features three events, with buy-ins ranging from £110 to £440.

The action begins with the £170 MegaStack, featuring three starting flights from July 11-12, with the winner to be crowned on July 14. For each flight, players will sit down with 50,000 in starting chips played to 30-minute blinds.

The next event on the schedule is The Series which has a buy-in of £440 and is expected to attract some of the country’s finest poker players. It kicks off on July 12, running through July 14, with four starting flights. Each player begins with 25,000 chips. Finally on July 14, there’s a £110 buy-in PLO Double Chance, featuring 15,000 in starting chips played to 20-minute blinds.

PokerStars is also hosting a number of satellites giving players the chance to enter the tournament for a lower buy-in.
