PokerStars Turbo Series Is A Massive Success With $25M Being Awarded

The Stars Group, the parent company of PokerStars recently announced that its Turbo Series turned out to be a massive success and raise a lot more money than the online poker giant had estimated.

PokerStars, the biggest online poker website in the world launched and ran a very successful Turbo Series from February 18 to March 4.

PokerStars surprised a lot of poker players earlier this year when it decided to replace one of its crown jewels and scrapped the popular Turbo Championship of Online Poker (TCOOP). The TCOOP was replaced by the Turbo Series and tournament organizers expected the tournament to have a $15.6 million prize-pool guarantee.

The Turbo series received a great response from poker players and PokerStars confirmed that they received an extra $10 million in buy-ins and ended up paying out more than $25 million in prize money for the entire series. PokerStars confirmed that 46,581 unique players participated in the online series.

The Turbo series had 74 events with various levels of buy-ins ranging from $11 to $5,200. The real highlight of the Turbo Series was three events that had prize pools exceeding $1 million. Besides the immense prize pool, PokerStars also gave out three of its much sought after $30,000 Platinum Passes. These are for the PokerStars Players No Limit Hold'em Championship (PSPC), which is a $25,000 buy-in event scheduled for January 2019 in the Bahamas.

Turbo Winners Take Home Loads of Cash And Platinum Passes

The winners of the first ever Turbo Series not only had a great time online but also went home with nice cash prizes. The $1,050 Main Event was won by a player with the handle of ‘L1VeYRdrEamS‘ who took home $400,000 in prize money along with a Platinum Pass to the PSPC.

There were a number of popular online poker players who finished in the money and continued to add to their bankroll. Some of these online poker players who are known by their handles were David ‘davaman‘ Lopez, Shawn ‘buck21‘ Buchanan, Vladimir ‘vovtroy‘ Troyanovskiy, Scott ‘Aggro Santos‘ Margereson, and Alexandros ‘mexican222‘ Kolonias.

PokerStars continues to roll out super successful online tournaments that help build its brand and make players richer by the day. Apart from a successful Turbo Series, PokerStars also launched the FRESH (France Espania Hold'em) Series which was a joint tournament series that welcomed French and Spanish players to the EU shared liquidity arrangement. FRESH gave out over €6 million in prize money to its winners. Yet another success was the PokerStars Winter Series which initially offered a $25.4 million prize pool guarantee but managed to award over $38 million thanks to a great response from the players.
